Think development – Think WIDER

Venue: Marina Congress Center, Katajanokanlaituri 6, Helsinki, Finland
The ‘Think development – Think WIDER’ conference will be a three-day event bringing together over 400 development experts and academics from across the world. The conference will address issues of finance, food, and climate change, as well as transformation, inclusion, and sustainability in development — topics which have been the focus of UNU-WIDER research over the last decade. It brings together the lessons from the work of hundreds of researchers around the world with the aim of mobilizing evidence-based action around the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its goals.
Conference speakers include, among many others, Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz, former Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank Kaushik Basu, director of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) Sabina Alkire and the former United Nations Under-Secretary General José Antonio Ocampo.

The WIDER Annual Lecture 22 will be delivered by Ernest Aryeetey, Secretary General of the African Research Universities Alliance. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A. All participants are warmly welcome to attend a reception after the event.
